The Art of Pregnancy- Maternity photos

Psalm 139: 13-16 (NIV)

For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place. When I was woven together in the depths of the earth, your eyes saw my unformed body. All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.

Warning: extra long photo stream below! My photographer Ashley is just so talented, and we had an absolute blast capturing these pictures. I believe that every mother-to-be should find a way to capture the beauty of their pregnancy, because it is a true miracle. Here is the art of my pregnancy through photos. My Blanqi Style

You’ve heard me say in posts before that I’m not a huge fan of maternity clothes. I don’t like how over priced and oddly styled they are. I feel like a lot of maternity pieces scream “I’m just a big ole pregnant lady don’t mind me!”  I find that I can style most non maternity clothes better with the exception to a few key pieces. This bumped by Blanqi belly support tank is definitely one of those pieces. There is just nothing else like it!!

1

The Blanqi bodystyler has been a staple in my wardrobe since the day it came in the mail. This stylish support tank is not only fully lined and full coverage, but it supports your belly and back to alleviate any pain. I swear it feels like someone is holding your belly up for you!! I love it for my long days at work because it’s breathable mositure-wicking fabric keeps me cool and dry. It’s just such an easy piece to throw on and go.

3
I even wear my Blanqi bodystyler on date nights. The material of the tank is fabulous and perfectly structured. Think better than a lululemon tank top!! It’s great for layering or even by itself. The fabric is totally opaque and creates a beautifully smooth silhouette. Also the long length of the top takes the place of any bulky belly band allowing you to wear all of your favorite pants for longer.  Hooray!!

Untitled design (2)
Here are some silly mirror selfies to show you just how long the tank really is. The girls behind this awesome design (Valerie and Sabina) are true geniuses. They have successfully created a stylish piece of performance wear that I will continue to wear post baby. This top truly is the perfect start to any outfit, and I’m proud to be a Blanqi girl!! Check them out on Instagram @blanqigirls and hash tag your photos #BLANQIlife and #makemoments

* A true testament to the greatness of this tank is the fact that I am 38-39 weeks pregnant in these pictures and I am still feeling full support. Also I would not normally have the confidence to wear something white and tight  this far along, but I love how it smoothes out my belly and really shows the beauty of pregnancy.

A Girly Shower

They pulled into my driveway late Saturday night with a trunk full of pink goodies. My smile couldn’t of been any bigger. One because my best girl friends were in town, and two because we were getting ready to celebrate my baby GIRL!! Yes I get to say it, GIRL!!  Now I love my boys, and I’m so glad that I get to be a mommy to not only one but two of them, but the blue thing is getting a bit old hat. When my best friend Erin said she wanted to throw me a shower I had no idea how exciting it would be for me. Up until that day I couldn’t really visualize it. Yes I was pregnant with a baby, but it wasn’t until all the pink starting overflowing from their car into my dining room that I really felt the joy of what is coming. Needless to say I was overwhelmed by the love and generosity of all my friends who gathered to make it such a special day for me, and I hope I get to repay the favor in some way to many of you in the near future!! Here is a glimpse at our day.

Pink Blush Maternity / Pink Invasion giveaway!

Maternity clothes are one of those things that  I normally avoid at all costs. Except for the occasional splurge for a nice pair of stretchy jeans I don’t even step foot in the stores. I have always felt that there are a lot of great non maternity options for your growing belly so why spend the dough on items you won’t wear post baby? Well I must admit my mind has been slightly changed. I came across Pink Blush Maternity a couple months ago and I’m totally hooked!IMG_9262

They have great basic and trendy pieces at even greater prices, and they are constantly sending out discount codes and shipping codes making it an even better deal to shop with them! And guess what non pregnant friends?!? They now have a  women’s line as well!! There are so many things I love on the site it is hard to choose, but this minty floral dress really jumped out at me. I can totally see myself wearing it post baby with studded heels and a jean jacket.

IMG_9280         IMG_9279

All of their pieces are so nicely made. Most likely you’re only going to buy a couple pieces of maternity, so it’s nice to purchase quality items. If you haven’t checked out their website I encourage you to head over there.  Like them on Facebook for 20% off. Sign up for emails and get exclusive deals! It’s really a no brainer. Plus….. I am giving away $25 store credit on my instagram account @madeoverbymandy!! Yep Pink Invasion Giveaway #3 is shopping credit!!! Head on over to my page to enter. Also for fun I am sharing my love it list with you. Click here to see what is in my shopping cart!

Bumpdate- 28 weeks

Pregnancy still amazes me. The things that take place inside the belly are incredible. To think a human baby is living inside of me. I love feeling her move around, do flips, and get the hiccups. I love having her with me everywhere I go safe inside my belly. Theconnection Ialready share with this tiny being almost brings me to tears each time I think about it. Oh and did I mention I still get butterflies every time I get to say “her” or “she”?!?

What I do not care too much for is the shortness of breath I am experiencing. I got this way with Kempton at around 32 weeks or so. It almost gives me mild anxiety because I feel like at any moment I will not be able to catch my breath. When there is too much activity going on around me, or I’m asked to repeat myself multiple times, or the house is too noisy I almost feel as if I could pass out. I’ve had to go lay down in the middle of lunch because eating was too much!

The jabs and kicks I get from this little princess are so high up into my rib cage. I am definitely carrying her higher than any of my other babies, which my doctor says may of been whyI wasn’t as sick, but holy smokes breathing is hard! I am still able to do yoga, but have really cut back on my running. Rule of thumb for a prenatal exercise is at any point you should be able to stop and speak two sentences clearly. Other than the breathing I really can’t complain as I’ve had no late night leg cramps, heartburn, or nauseousness (knock on wood).

One thing I’m really trying to do this pregnancy (partly because I’m not working this time and partly because It’s my last pregnancy)  is take time to rest and pamper myself. I have been very blessed this time around to be able to stay home and spend some special one on one time with little Kempton before sister arrives. During my pregnancies with both boys I was so crazy sick, and so crazy busy. I laugh when I think of the ridiculous things I had to do as a full time working mommy. When you’re in the midst of it you just do what you have to do!! On my late nights I used to use my dinner break to go pick Cohen up from school, meet Brooks who was just getting off work to make the switch, and head back to work till 9. Whew makes me tired just thinking about it. Anyways I am thankful to have the opportunity to take it easy this time.

A little thing I like to do during naptime (if I’m not napping as well) is take a long bubble bath, use my clarisonic cleansing brush on my face and belly, and then finish with coconut oil all over! My skin has never felt so smooth! I’ve even been using it on my face and hair.  If you haven’t tried it Trader Joes has a whole jar for only $5.99.10308754_761891702553_7660396680953235651_n

28 weeks

How far along: Technically 27 weeks and 5 days

Baby is the size of a: large eggplant

Maternity clothes: With the exception of my Easter dress nope. Most of my jeans and pants still fit me because my belly is so high. Also thank goodness for jeggings!

Sleep: I’m getting great sleep. No issues here.

Exercise: Still doing Yoga on tuesdays and running on the elliptical twice a week. Now that it is finally warmer out we go on a family bike ride almost every night!

Movement: She moves a lot now! Daddy and Cohen have both gotten to feel her be-boppin about in there.

Any Cravings: ICE! Cohen has these lego ice trays that make the perfect blocks and I make a tray full just to sit down and eat them like candy later.

Miss anything: Running! Tight shirts tucked into skirts. Wearing high heels for more than an hour. Being able to paint my toes with ease. Being able to do a full chaturanga.

Anything make you queasy or sick: No not really.

Labor signs: A few small contractions here and there.

Happy or moody: Happy except when I feel rushed. I have noticed I get grumpy when too much is going on and I fear I may get short of breath.

Looking forward to: shopping for baby in Michigan, finishing the nursery, and my baby shower.

Best moment of the week: Discussing names with Daddy and finally feeling pretty confident on one 🙂

Newborn must haves + a pink invasion giveaway

Pinterest is so great isn’t it?! How did I ever organize my thoughts without it??!! Actually the other day I found a note book from before Cohen was born with a list of things I wanted for the hospital. I had to chuckle at how stone age 7 years ago seemed and how the number one item on my list was “a really cute blanket”. We’ve come a long way since then, and there is SO much more to choose from. Hello Etsy?! I’m slowly starting to compile a list of wants for the new baby. I made a mood board, both with things I loved from when Kemp was born and things I’m looking to purchase this time around.

1798712_755365431253_1780451641_n

1. Helvetica “hi” blanket by Yarningmade. This blanket is so soft and a great statementpiece for the nursery!

2. Wooden teething ring with crocheted beads. Etsy shop Nihamaj

3. Life Factory glass bottles. I LOVED these with Kempton and plan to get some for baby girl.

4. We are jellycat fans for life! These stuffed animals are so cute plus the floppiness of the beans inside make them easy for kids to drag around.

5. Freshly Picked Moccasins. Need I say more?! These shoes are so soft and actually stay on your baby’s feet!

6. The Snug Bug travel changing mat. Lightweight and super portable. Plus comes in tons of cute patterns.

7. 4moms Mamaroo swing/bouncer. This product is a life saver. Five different motions to move baby the way you do. Genious!!

Other items I have used and loved are Aden + Anias swaddle blankets (preferably plain white), Dolcino organic baby wrap, wubbanub pacifier, Angel dear lovey, Lalaspequenos knottie baby sleeper, and Little giraffe baby blanket.

It’s all overwhelming I know!! That’s why I love making wish boards and slowly purchasing from it. But I am going to help you out a bit. I am continuing with my “pink invasion” give a ways! Over the next few months readers will get the chance to win several items from my mood board. Today I am giving TWO lucky readers a Snug Bug changing mat of their choice!

The Snug Bug is a California based company started by  Hollywood mommy Heather Hendrixson. Together with her costume designer friends they have created a line of baby essentials to meet all your needs and look stylish while doing it. They are committed to the highest quality products and simply want to make life easier for all the busy moms out there. I can honestly say this travel mat is a game changer! It is so lightweight and versatile. I actually keep mine in the car because I use it not only for diaper changing time, but also for a lunch mat. It wipes up so well and can easily fit in any purse I am carrying. I chose the Moxie travel mat, and since baby girl is not here yet Kemp got to try it out.

The mat lays out to 17″ x 25″, to last until your baby is out of diapers. Rolls up to a compact 8″ x 1.5″ to lighten mom’s load. Another great feature is that the mat is CSPIA tested safe for babies and kids, and free of harmful chemicals like BPA, PVC, Vinyl, and Phalates. All products from The Snug Bug are boutique quality and made in the USA with attention to every detail.

Last Thursday we  had a fun afternoon with friends teaching Kemp all about baby sister coming and learning how to be gentle with the baby. Oh and baby Selah was the perfect model huh?! Needless to say I think Kempton is actually starting to get excited about having a little sister.

Head over the the Snug Bug shop and check out all the other great products they offer.

Bumpdate

10001415_754839155913_886012173_n72577_754839205813_1183534881_n1477451_754839245733_60252144_n

I am starting to get very sentimental. Even as the uncomfortable moments are rolling in I find myself wanting to make this pregnancy last. Most likely this will be the very last time I ever feel a baby kick inside of me, or take bump pics. I want to savor every moment, but is that even possible while taking care of two rambunctious boys?!? I have not documented this pregnancy (or any pregnancy for that matter) how I wished I would of, but it’s not too late to start eh? Here is a little update or as I like to call it bumpdate of where I am currently.

22 Weeks

How far along: 22 weeks and 4 days

Baby is the size of a: spaghetti squash. 11 inches and almost 1 pound

Maternity clothes: nope still in all my regular stuff. I do find myself raiding my husband’s soft tshirt drawer a lot though. And Kimono’s are my best friend.

1978817_754838557113_1158583947_n 1503966_754838756713_1348474643_n1972500_754838731763_516762454_n

Sleep: I’m still sleeping great. This is about the time that I get nasty heartburn though.

Exercise: Still running around 6 miles a week, lifting weights, and doing yoga. Keeping up with my workouts have seemed to make this pregnancy so much easier. I feel stronger and more like myself.

Movement: She kicks delicately, nothing like Kempton did, and it is always on the left side. At our last ultra sound the doctor pointed out how she has really long legs.

Any cravings: Nutella. I went from craving carrots and apples to needing just that little bit of sweetness after almost every meal :/ I usually make a piece of whole grain toast with pb2 and nutella. No one else in my family really likes it so I get the whole jar to myself!!

Best moment of the week: The baby kicked against daddy’s arm. Although he couldn’t feel anything it was a very sweet moment.

1488845_754839624973_1902008851_n

Miss anything: I miss wearing some of my yoga clothes that no longer zip and running long distances.

Anything make you queasy or sick: smells in general. Everything is just so strong right now.

Have you started to show yet: Yes, yes, yes!

1526208_754842529153_1085383596_n

Labor signs: none

Belly button in or out: my belly button pops out quickly.  It’s been out for quite sometime now. The kids think it is hilarious, and Brooks says I’m lucky that I can get it really really clean.

Wedding rings on or off: on

Happy or moody: I’m usually happy. I have really felt great this time around.

Looking forward to: Spring break trip and working on the nursery.
